Big Picture National Conference on Åland

On October 6th, project partner Åland University of Applied Sciences organized the conference Big Picture: Together, we strengthen geriatric expertise. It was held in Swedish in the auditorium at ÅUAS’ south campus, and was also streamed online for audiences in mainland Finland, Åland and Sweden.

The conference brought together researchers, experts and professionals from the field of geriatric care, and also worked as an opportunity for nursing students to listen in, learn and engage in their local geriatric care community. Speakers ranged from researchers, doctors, nurses and representatives from local geriatric care institutions and the government. Topics ranged from healthcare policies and programs, mental health in relation to healthcare and geriatric care, and research presentations. Dissemination of the Big Picture project was of course also a part of the program.

With a total of just under a 100 participators on-site and just under 500 views online (just under 400 unique reaches), the conference can be considered a successful event, especially considering Åland’s unique position as a small and quite isolated island. A special thanks is directed to all speakers, audience participators and all who helped organize the event!
